Casaramona House - Paseo de Gracia

The Casaramona House, initially, was a house with a ground floor and two floors. In April 1870, the owner Pablo Brusi Genis asked the Master Builder Domènec Balet y Nadal to extend it one more floor and reform the façade, adding a balustrade, vases and a frieze to the roof.

Years later, the new owner of the house, Mr. August Casaramona, son of the well-known cotton industrialist Casimir Casaramona Puigcercós, who had his Modernist factory in Montjuic designed by the architect Puig y Cadafalch, asked this same architect to expand the house three more floors, adding a tribune with garlands on the main floor, the ground floor was adapted with two commercial premises, the main entrance was renovated and the balustrade was changed on the roof with new large vases.

Who was Casimir Casaramona Puigcercós?

Casimir Casaramona y Puigcercós (Vic, 1838 - Barcelona, ​​1913), He was a Catalan textile industrialist who created his company in Castellterçol, reuniting the small workshops of his brothers into a single cotton, blend and wool fabric factory.

In 1888, the company won the silver medal at the Universal Exhibition in Barcelona.

In 1911, the Raval factory was destroyed by fire and Casaramona commissioned Puig i Cadafalch to build a new factory in Montjuic. When Casimir Casaramona died, the company was left in the hands of his son August, but it closed before 1920.
